Happy Thanksgiving!!!

To all my American friends (and some of the Portuguese that lived in the US for the last 4 years), HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

How I remember with great pleasure the Thanksgiving days in Storrs. Being surrounded with wonderful people, with food on the table made with care and dedication. Then sitting down on the couch (with the belly wanting to come out of the pants) and watch football.

Good memories. Excellent memories! : )

Well, I’m not in the States, but still, I will do my best to have an American night. I will be watching the Dallas Cowboys on Internet television, and I will ask my mom to do a marvellous roasted turkey steak with a yummy sour cream sauce with mushrooms. Hummmmmmmm!!! Sweet.

And talking of sweets, I will interrupt my low carb diet (Sorry Dr Volek), and enjoy the wonderful cakes that my mom makes: egg pudding, sweet rice, cheesecake, chocolate cake with cream. Oh yes!!! On of the perks of being in Lisbon is the outstanding cooking of Mrs Lurdes (my mom).

Ok. Have a great day! Enjoy your family and friends company, and make a toast to friends who are far.

: )

I will be on Skype and MSN during the Cowboys game. Show up!

cool news

I have some cool news. I was invited to teach at a Masters course (in here things work a little different) on a private University in Lisbon.

I’m going to talk about exercise and obesity... off course one could see that coming miles away.

I want to do a good job, so that I can start being invited by other Universities to do similar things (and off course, make a lot of money ; )

more on the oh, uau! department

So, just arrived from Tallinn, I go right away to Madrid, Spain, to spend time with the Voleks. And apart from the more obvious, which was, off course, having a terrific good time with Ana and Jeff, there was the opportunity to visit one of the most important capitals in Europe.

Madrid was outstanding. A very pleasant city, with a lot of historical places and backgrounds. At the same time with the energy and life of a major city in the Mediterranean area.

Especially nice was the warm temperature (remember, we are in November) enough for us to walk around in t-shirt. And the nightlife was awesome. Two things that I missed having when I was in Storrs. It was easy to make a case why I missed, them to Jeff and Ana, as they were also enjoying those two things immensely.

Overall, a extraordinary day, that I wished it would take longer to end, even with the so not pleasant ending (private mention between me and the Voleks here ; )

Some photos for you to marvel.

oh... UAU!

So, I was in Tallinn for a Conference of the European Network of Academic Services with a talk on “Physical activity and health in the University setting”.

I must say that my participation was a great success, with the delegates giving me sincere congratulations and thanks for the content of the talk. In addition, I got two invitations to work with the University of Helsinki in Finland, and Zagreb in Croatia in projects that those two universities have in the area of exercise and health.

But the most impressive thing was… the women of Tallinn. OH… MY… GOD!!!! They all look like Maria Sharapova or Anna Kournikova… they are so beautiful that is painful. And elegant! And sophisticated. Dear lord!!! I was not to return to Portugal. I cannot explain it better… that is what my heaven should be. And with an added bonus… they flirt with a little bit of friskiness that was maddening.

Picture this, walking by someone that looks like a supermodel. You have to look at her! You have to! Damn, I’m a heterosexual men! I have to look at such beauty! And I’m floating on air when they locked eyes with me and walk by with a little smile on the corner of the lips. UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!

The city is gorgeous. With an “old city” that is very ancient, but well restored and taken cared. On the other hand, part of the city is becoming ultra-modern and sophisticated. That mix will be awesome. Tallinn will be the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2011, and I can imagine being one of the most spectacular capitals of Europe.

One thing that I did not miss… is the cold. Damn!! It was zero degrees temperatures, and I so much hate those freaking low temperatures. But there were several reasons to feel warm inside… if you know what I mean ; )

LOVE TALLINKA!!!

away from my desk

Hi there

I will be away for the next couple of days, visiting the wonders and enchantments of the Baltic region (I heard that all the women there look like Sharapova!! I cannot wait)

I’m going to visit Tallinn in Estonia, where I’m going to be a key speaker in a Conference on Academic Services for University Students. My talk will be on Programs of physical activity and health in the University setting.

I know that Tallinn at this time of the year it’s on the minus temperatures, and that is snowing… ahhhhh. I so much miss that! NOT!!

I will spend the all time in the Hotel! Well, probably not.

But do not worry… I will be back!
